On the following pages, I'll be describing step-by-step exactly how I got my Bluetooth Headset working with my computer.
USB Bluetooth Adapter Installation
Ok, the steps that I'm about to describe apply to my USB Bluetooth Adapter (a 'Thermaltake' model BT009X) using Windows XP with Service Pack 2. Your device will probably be a little different so please keep this in mind.
Step 1: On inserting the disc which came with my USB Bluetooth Adapter into the computer, the following screen popped up
'English' was clicked, then the next screen popped up:
I selected 'Install Bluetooth Software' which prompted the 'Installshield Wizard for Bluetooth Software:
I clicked 'next', then accepted the terms of the license agreement.
'Next' again,
 Then 'Install'
Clicking 'Install' in the previous step prompted the following warning from Microsoft.
The warning basically explains that Microsoft does not have a certification process in place for Bluetooth devices. Clicking 'OK' in this screen would enable the driver installation to continue without receiving multiple 'unsigned driver' warning prompts. The documentation accompanying my USB Bluetooth Adapter forewarned that this message would appear and explained that it was safe to click 'OK'.
The following screen prompts for confirmation that you want to continue the installation:
Again, this was mentioned in the documentation that came with the USB Bluetooth Adapter and I was instructed to 'Continue Anyway'.
The next screen explains that 'No Bluetooth Device is detected'. I clicked 'ok'
then the following screen popped up.
The instructions then informed me that I should reboot my computer, insert the USB Bluetooth Adapter into a vacant USB port and then start the Windows 'Initial Bluetooth Configuration Wizard'. After rebooting, I attempted to start the wizard and encountered the following error message:
'Bluetooth device not found. Please verify that
your Bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on.
To alleviate this problem, I needed to change the driver that Windows installed by default when I proceeded through the above steps. The instructions for changing the driver and hence dealing with the above error message are listed here.
Ok, the next step was to complete the 'Bluetooth Configuration Wizard'
